Visit one of Hungary's most beautiful castle in the Lake Balaton in Keszthely, then refresh yourself in the famous thermal lake.

We start at 8 am from Budapest. It takes cca 2.5 hours to get to Keszthely situated in the north-eastern corner of Lake Balaton, where we visit the beautiful Festetics Castle. During our walk we can admire the Castle, the Chariot Museum and the castle park.

The baroque castle was started to build by Festetics Christopher in 1745. In 1883-1887 the was awarded its present form and size by enlargements. This was Hungary's third largest castle. From 1976 it hosts the Helikon Castle Museum.

The Helikon Library is one of the most beautiful room of the castle , the only aristocratic private library remaining in original form in Hungary, the current book and journal stock exceeds ninety thousands. In he suites of the castle are located the exhibition of aristocratic way of life of the 18th-19th century, and a historical weapon collection.
In the castlegarden 70 thousand flowers are planted each year by the gardeners. The front garden is decorated with two beautiful classic pagoda trees and a large fountain. The park was beautified and enriched with special plants. There is a pond, a rockery combined with a small waterfall, and the Lion Fountain with fresh, drinkable water in the park. In the back tract of the palace there is the stable and the carriage house in which we can find the Chariot Museum.

After a short walk to the shores of Lake Balaton in Keszthely, we have lunch in a restaurant.

We continue our journey to the near Hévíz, where we can bathe in the famous thermal lake the whole afternoon.
At the famous thermal lake we have freetime. Wellness ticket can be bought for en extra fee at the entrance of the lake. (1500 HUF/person)

The guests to bathe even in the winter months. The lake produced 410 l/sec., which means that water is changed every three days. Its temperature does not go below 22 C and may reach 38 C in the summer.
The indifferent temperature water does not exhaust the guests wishing to recreate, on the contrary it has a relaxing and refreshing effect.
The steady and constant water flow has a beneficial effect on the body as it keeps bathers lightly massaged during the whole time they spend in the lake.

The medicinal suggestions of the therapy covers a wide range of locomotor diseases: it has beneficial effects on rheumatic locomotor diseases, osteoporosis, degenerative spinal/joint diseases, Bechterew syndrome, inflammation diseases of the joint in their chronic phases, post treatment of injuries and locomotor operations as well as tender tissue rheum, secondary diseases of the joints, chronic, peripheral, nervous, mechanical-related complaints, pre- and post treatment of operations on the joints and discs as well as chronic and gynaecological conditions.
Suggestions against the therapy include infectious diseases, tumours, heart failure, circulatory disorder, thrombosis and other blood production-related diseases, asthma, high blood pressure and pregnancy.
Without the advice of a doctor 30 minutes of bathing is suggested. In cases of chronic stomach and intestinal catarrh, the water can also be drunk.

6 pm we return to Budapest. We arrive back in the evening.
